The £1,300 of accrued costs was funded by the Gibson Walden Fund, as well as this year’s £600.
2. External visit in 2023 was to the David Parr House.
3. New book on Gibson Library
The full printing cost for the 500 copies of the new book was paid in late March 2025, so this cost has been carried forward to set against the sales in 2025 and beyond. NB: this is only the printing cost; the costs of design and writing have been expensed as incurred in 2023 and 2024.

I have examined the Accounts of the Gibson Library Society for the year ended 31st March 2025, and confirm that they are in accordance with the accounting rercords handed to me.

Treasurer’s Commentary
The total of our Membership Income, general donations and Gift Aid refund was only a very small amount below the preceding year. There was, however, a great increase in income from the use of Gibson Library photos in Malcolm Turnbull’s book on Lost Walden. This, combined with a reduction in expenditure on equipment and the development of the Library Book, has resulted in a large increase in our surplus.
The Gibson Walden Fund has been providing funds towards the rebinding of many of our historic books, and this year we at last received invoices to cover the work that has taken place in recent years, and by paying these it means that we no longer have to carry forward any accrual for payment next year.
Our largest expenditure in recent years has on the development and now printing of the new book on the Gibson Library, the income for which we hope to see in the 2025/26 Accounts.
I believe that the financial results of the year show the Society to be in a healthy state, and do not require any increase in Subscription rates.
Finally, I’d like to thank Martin Gruselle for fulfilling the duties of Independent Examiner of the Annual Accounts at short notice, following the sudden and sad death of John Oswin Smith.
