Volunteer with us

We rely on volunteers for all the work of the Society. If you love books, are interested in history, libraries or photography, or would just like to be part of our team, then we would love to hear from you.

Currently volunteers:

Steward atevents, staff the welcome desk
Catalogue new acquisitions
Digitise photographs and rare books
Maintain scrapbook
Repair books
Research and prepare reader guides
Serve as trustees

The new Digital Discovery Project will create many more volunteering opportunities especially in the development of the new digital catalogue for the Library and the digitisation of the rarest and most interesting books in the collections. There will also be a number of public events and activities in 2027 for which we will needteams of helpers. Watch this space for news of opportunities.
